Paris 8-10/04- «Le Mont Athos et l’Empire Byzantin – Trésors de la Sainte Montagne»

Η έκθεση με τίτλο «Le Mont Athos et l’Empire Byzantin – Trésors de la Sainte Montagne» στο Petit Palais της γαλλικής πρωτεύουσας παρουσιάζει για πρώτη φορά στο γαλλικό και το ευρύτερο ευρωπαϊκό κοινό περισσότερα από 180 αυθεντικά έργα προερχόμενα από τις μονές του Αγίου Όρους. Η έκθεση οργανωνεται με πρωτοβουλία του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών, σε συνεργασία με την Ιερά Κοινότητα του Αγίου Όρους και με το Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού. Παρουσιάζονται σε αυτήν συνολικά 181 κειμήλια, εκ των οποίων τα 60 ταξιδεύουν για πρώτη φορα μακριά από την αγιορείτικη πολιτεία. Ένα μέρος από τα αυτά είχε εκτεθεί το 1997 στην έκθεση «Θησαυροί του Αγίου Όρους» στη Θεσσαλονίκη, στο πλαίσιο των εκδηλώσεων της πόλης ως πολιτιστική πρωτεύουσα της Ευρώπης.

L’Exposition d’œuvres d’art byzantin en provenance du Mont Athos, est une rétrospective exceptionnelle qui regroupe un ensemble considérable de trésors d’art byzantin du IXe au XVIIIe siècle. Elle est présentée du 9 avril au 5 juillet 2009 au Petit Palais de Paris.
Vingt monastères orthodoxes sont protégés par un statut autonome issu de l’Empire byzantin et toujours reconnu par l’Etat hellénique. Parmi les prérogatives de la Sainte Montagne, la plus célèbre est sans doute sa restriction d’accès : les étrangers (pèlerins ou scientifiques) ne peuvent y pénétrer que sur autorisation et les femmes n’y sont pas admises. Ces monastères renferment, depuis le Xe siècle, des richesses (manuscrits enluminés, icônes, objets liturgiques, reliquaires, fresques, tissus, mosaïques, chrysobulles) héritées des Empereurs byzantins et de hauts personnages, ou fruits du travail des moines au cours des temps. La plupart de ces œuvres offrent la particularité de n’avoir jamais quitté le Mont Athos, en dehors de celles qui furent présentées à Thessalonique lors d’une exposition en 1997 Deux cents œuvres seront exposées, choisies parmi les collections de grands monastères grecs du Mont Athos tels Vatopédi, Iviron, Xenophontos, Dionysiou ou Pantocrator ainsi que de Karyès, site de l’administration centrale de la Montagne. Elles donnent à voir la vie et la production artistique de ce haut lieu spirituel dans ses différentes facettes, et témoignent en particulier des rapports qu’a entretenus la péninsule avec l’Empire byzantin.

The Second Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC)

The second Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations will be held on 6-7 April 2009 in Istanbul, Turkey.
The UNAOC is the most important international initiative aimed at advancing intercultural understanding. In this respect, the Forum, carrying the purpose of forging partnerships in order to build substantive interaction between diverse communities and to strengthen trust and reconciliation across cultures, will convene a powerful network of global leaders, heads of international organizations, corporations, the media, civil society and youth groups.

The UNAOC Forum seeks to address some of the ongoing tensions and divides across cultures and religions, and to examine some of the broader challenges of good governance of cultural diversity in an age of rapidly accelerating globalization. The conference will be hosted by the government of Turkey, and follows the success of the inaugural Alliance Forum which was held in Madrid, Spain, in January 2008. This year's event will feature the participation of His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister of Turkey, His Excellency José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, President of the Government of Spain, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General's High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, President Jorge Sampaio, and other high-ranking political leaders.

Like the UNAOC itself, the Forum will be firmly action-oriented, with an emphasis on delivering concrete projects and practical outcomes. In addition to high-level plenary debates, the event shall feature:

An international platform for participants to develop joint initiatives and launch new programs.
A range of project-specific working sessions, which will provide an interactive, inclusive convening space for policy-makers, international organizations and civil society groups to share lessons on best practices and develop joint work platforms.
A unique 'Marketplace of Ideas' that will showcase some of the most innovative and successful grassroots projects with the purpose of transcending cultural divides and building peace.
